Christmas on 5th Street

It doesn’t really feel like Christmas at Baylor until Christmas on 5th Street comes around.

After last night, NOW it feels like Christmas.

Thousands of students, faculty/staff and Waco residents filled campus on a seasonably chilly (but not too cold) Thursday night, enjoying the annual event’s usual activities: carriage rides along Fifth Street, pictures with Santa, musical performances in a multitude of languages, a Christmas marketplace, designer Christmas trees on display in the SUB, and even more trees decorated by student organizations on Fountain Mall. At the end of the night, the 50th annual KOT Christmas Tree Lighting on Burleson Quad was followed by a Christmas concert from Relient K in Waco Hall.

And as always, at the heart of it all right in front of the Bill Daniel Student Center, was a live nativity to help us remember what we’re celebrating at this time of year — and to remind how us how blessed we are to be part of a university that celebrates the true meaning of Christmas.

Sic ’em, Baylor Christmas!
